On Monday 19th March George returned from a family holiday in Connemara to give his USA Road Trip talk to the Arundel WWT Supporters Group in Sussex. It was very well received and George duly drove home arriving about midnight. At 2am he was awakened by chest pain and his wife Angela immediately telephoned for an ambulance. Following hospital tests, a heart attack was diagnosed and George was transferred to Brighton Cardiac Care Unit. A few days later he underwent major open heart surgery, which we are pleased to say was successful.

However he now faces a long period of recovery and for that to be successful it means no work involvement whatsoever. No talks, no workshops, not even phone calls for at least the next three months and to that end his mobile phone has been switched off and his email shut down.
